Set of 3 japanese kokeshi dolls

Lot of 3 medium old japanese kokeshi dolls in good condition. The first measures 30.5 cm with a head diameter of 8.5 cm. The second measures 24 cm for a head diameter of 7 cm. The third measures 18.5 cm with a head diameter of 6.5 cm. Great decoration on a piece of furniture or on the floor with models like these. Colissimo shipping included in the price. Kokeshi were created by kiji-shi (wood craftsmen) in northern honshū (japan's largest island), in the tōhoku region, at the end of the edo era. At the beginning of their creation, these dolls representing little girls were small toys for children, before being sold as souvenirs for tourists. Their production then diversified in terms of size, shape and decoration. In the past, there were several words to designate japanese dolls, depending on their place of production (kogesu, kiboko, deko, etc.). At a meeting of artisans and collectors held in 1940, it was decided that the word kokeshi (こけし?), written in hiragana, would henceforth serve as the standard name1.
