Berber jar pottery from the Rif

Old berber pottery in its original form from the end of the 19th century or very beginning of the 20th century. It comes from an ancient kasbah in the rif, a mountainous region in northern morocco. It is decorated with traditional geometric patterns painted using manganese (black) and iron oxides (red). These motifs are found on beni carpets and date back to the neolithic: purity of forms and simplicity of decorations. Unique collector's item ideal for bringing an ethnic touch to your decoration: natural colors and typically berber designs. Perfect as a vase for dried flowers or as a decorative object. This jar is a utilitarian family heirloom and not pottery intended for tourists. Nothing to do with current reproductions. These containers are often kept in cool cellars and are sealed for long-term operation as seasonal storage of all kinds of products: cereals, olive oil, figs, etc. Height: 26cm.
