Marilyn monroe by lawrence schiller, 1962. Size: 30 X 45 cm|with white border. Rare fine art print of marilyn monroe, photographed by lawrence schiller during the production of something’s got to give, her final film project. In this image, monroe is seen reclining casually on a sofa, a glass in hand, her gaze distant and dreamy. Beside her sits another woman, elegantly dressed and upright — a striking contrast that gives the photograph a cinematic, almost narrative quality. Glamour and tension, stillness and presence, captured in a single frame. This photograph is part of a legendary series initiated by monroe herself as a bold attempt to reshape her public image. In 1962, her career was in decline; elizabeth taylor was earning millions, while monroe was fighting for recognition. For this shoot, she suggested a daring scene: a dive into the pool — without a swimsuit. Schiller, then a young photographer, immediately sensed the magnitude of her gesture. He brought the images to his editors, saying: “wow, she did it. I realised at the same moment how desperate she was.” The film was never completed. The photographs remained — intimate, powerful, and iconic.
