A tubular steel coat stand by tubax, belgium. This coat rack has a typical 1950s atomic age feel. Around the same time that the atomium was built for expo 58. Three tall bent steel tubes with rubber balls at the top and bottom, a chrome triangle top that holds the hooks. Condition report: Good vintage condition, structurally good. Some wear consistent with age and use, paint scruffed, some rust. As seen in the pictures. The hooks have been restored, new hooks have been commissioned at a local laser company and lasered out of black acryl. In 1948 the tubax company was founded under the leadership of jan vits from the werkhuizen vits. Tubax nv would grow into one of the largest belgian manufacturers of metal furniture. In addition to the metalworking workshops, the workshops also had a space for joinery and a garnishing department. In 1963 the company was at its peak when it employed more than 200 people. In this period tubax produced, among other things, the popular designs of willy van der meeren. Weight: 15 kg. Dimensions: 60 × 60 × 180 cm.
