Storage cabinet Isho Tansu - Japan late nineteenth

This japanese piece of furniture is similar to an isho tansu, a kind of textile chest of drawers. It combines power, elegance oriental influence. The craftsman sought the balance of materials, combining natural wood and fittings. The warmth of the wood and the sober elegance of the metal are welcomed in turn, in a beautiful balance. Very robust, the façade is e solid walnut - the uprights and soft wood top. A gate decorated with fittings reveals 2 drawers. It is in its original varnish (discolorations in places) - the uprights and top are dyed in matte black, not varnished. The tray has been waxed. Oxidations to fittings. Small scratches and small shocks of use. The key to the fitting compartment is missing - the fish protrudes, the gate remains slightly ajar. Very robust, (about 35 kilos) you can put heavy objects on it. This piece of furniture is fully chevillé, the drawers are all slightly different, adjusted to measure.
