Maracas percussion or carved rattle African crafts

Very beautiful object of african origin, depending on the sources it could be a musical instrument or a rattle. Inside, small seeds I suppose, make a light, soft noise when shaken. It will also make an interesting object for asmr enthusiasts. I have already encountered this object at the home of a friend who lived in africa, but it has the particularity of being very finely carved on the surface with patterns all around and representations of animals, an elephant, a rhino and an antelope or a gazelle perhaps. It’s truly artisanal work of great precision and finesse! It has two holes at the tip but it was me who added the (very old) string. I won't be able to date it but given the patina compared to the one i've already seen, it seems quite old to me. It is in good general condition with just a small loss on a decorative frieze. It measures 10.5 cm in length with a diameter of approximately 5.5 cm.
