Mindi has a density comparable to red oak. The janka scale has a scale that rates the hardness of wood and the mass of mindi at 1055, while red oak is at 1060. The difference in hardness between the two is almost imperceptible. Mindi is naturally rot and mildew resistant, just like cedar wood. The texture is coarse like oak, but has tighter grains than oak.
