2-seater “pumpkin” sofa in red alcantara by Pierre Paulin for Ligne Roset. Height 70 cm, seat height 36 cm, length 180 cm, depth 80 cm. First public edition of the salon designed in 1971 for the private apartments of Claude and Georges Pompidou at the Elysée Palace, Pumpkin is characteristic of Pierre Paulin's revolutionary style that he initiated at the end of the 1950s. Formally, Pumpkin evokes a giant pumpkin which offers a protective and voluptuous shell to its user. Impossible to resist his call! Pierre Paulin (1927-2009) is a French designer. His talent lies in a transition from decoration to design quite characteristic of that of post-war France and in the materials used for the manufacture of seats. These are padded with foam and covered with innovative fabric.
