Récamier asparagus plate
- H3 x W23 x D2
- ceramics, porcelain and earthenware
- multicolour
Description
Asparagus or artichoke plate made in the early 1900s by "u&c sarreguemines and digoin". The printing decoration technique is a major innovation from england. It exploits the porosity of the dough as a "biscuit". The decoration is applied with ink on tissue paper. The latter is affixed to the piece to be decorated. The earthenware then absorbs the ink and, thus, the decoration. All that remains is to enamel the piece. A hollow in the plate allows the sauces to be put in. These "récamier" plates are all stamped and numbered, in good condition, yellowed given the passage of time, but in good condition. Only one is chipped. Possibility of purchasing the complete set.
