The margoum carpet is also peculiar in that it is made according to the traditions of the oldest with regard to its weaving methods: the bottom of the margum is woven as on a kilim, and the patterns are embroidered using knots, as on a classic carpet, but upside down. The margum therefore has no hairs but a smooth appearance with reliefs. On its backside, the wool back threads testify to the artisanal authenticity of this handmade carpet. The margoum is based on the drawing of the diamonds in arabic "regma", the word "mergoum" comes from here. However, margoum is at the origin of the berbers, and the diamonds symbolize fertility. There are three main types of patterns: a large number of small diamonds, medium diamonds or large central diamonds. Our handmade carpets are all controlled by the quality department of the national office of crafts. A certificate of authenticity accompanies each piece.
