Basket with handles – Silver Metal – Alfenide, Gallia for Christofle

2717 - from the art nouveau period, this beautiful basket with handles in silver metal numbered 4442 with a square hallmark "tête de bouc" for the alfénide manufacture and another in the shape of an "rooster" escutcheon for the gallia collection of christofle in good condition with marks of normal use attesting to its antiquity. Decoration of chrysanthemum flowers even resume on the handles quite in the style of that time. Length 387 mm X 240 mm. Height 58 mm. Weight 850 g. For information, christofle bought alfénide in 1880 and created this gallia collection bringing together extraordinary artists and designers from the beginning of the twentieth century. It is of high quality and greater hardness because the parts are melted in steel molds and not hammered. Its name refers to the "gaulle", a region of western europe, symbolized by the rooster thus putting french innovation.
