Description
French Louis Philippe chest of drawers, late 19th century. The wood is walnut burl. The walnut burl is flamed because it has many aesthetic designs. These designs have very contrasting complex patterns and intertwined veins on a naturally dark background of varying intensities. This chest of drawers is equipped with five drawers, including a secret hidden in the plinth of the furniture. The drawers are mounted in a dovetail, thus ensuring perfect solidity. The drawers can be opened daily and contain many sometimes heavy objects. They slide perfectly. The discreet entrances do not protrude from the surface. They are made of wood and are called clover entrances. The key opens the four drawers. The secret drawer opens from below. The chest of drawers is perfectly stable. It rests on low feet that respect the shape of the furniture at the front and are called "skates" and two straight feet at the back. The top of the chest of drawers is a gray Saint Anne marble molded on the sides and the front. The molding is worked and called "pair of buttocks". The marble is richly veined and in perfect condition. The marble has undergone a customary restoration at the marble worker. The back of the chest of drawers has solid wood panels, therefore very resistant. In the 19th century, all famous houses had a Louis Philippe chest of drawers with simple and elegant lines. The reign of Louis-Philippe made cabinetmakers happy. The latter valued large smooth surfaces, worked and selected the veneer in order to obtain the most beautiful patterns. The chest of drawers therefore has its place in all the rooms of your house and will be of the most beautiful effect. It will attract attention by the quality of the wood, the softness of its lines. It will bring warmth, relaxation and well-being to your interior. Its creator invites you to understand, to establish an intimate and unique relationship. This piece of furniture passed down from generation to generation is enriched by its history as it settles in.
