Repoussé brass log chest - 1920

Chest initially used for log storage, made of repoussé brass. It opens on top by an overhang cover with sailing ship decorations. The scene depicts a three-masted main building, accompanied by smaller boats, sailing on a seemingly calm sea. There is also a canoe, with three men on board, one of whom is rowing. The whole is framed by a frieze, also prominent. In the same spirit, on the facade of this chest we discover two large boats approaching the coast or reefs, followed in their journey by what could be seagulls. They sail in windier weather, according to their flags floating in the air and their sails spread, one of which sports a great sun. It should be noted that this façade has some traces of antiquity, testifying to a century of history. The sides, more sober, are however lined over their entire surface with a multitude of points in relief. The back and bottom are smooth and this chest rests on two 4 cm thick feet present across the width.
