White opaline pot

Beautiful and rare white opaline box with separate lid, probably dated to the 19th century. Perimeter in brass or gilded bronze. This object has no breaks, no gaps. According to the light, this storage changes and is adorned with different colors. opaline is a precious glass, with a milky white appearance and iridescent reflections. It takes its name from opal, a rock very popular in jewelry. Opaline is a material that appeared around the 17th century and tried to imitate chinese porcelain. The manufacturing process of chinese porcelain was still unknown at the time, painted opalines were produced to replace porcelain. This glass is entirely tinted in the mass, and comes in all tones. The technique, used to tint the color in the mass, is complex. This process is therefore complicated and difficult to develop to have a uniform shade. Packaging made with care.
