Description
This set of four elegant chairs model 89 was designed by erik buch for the danish manufactory anderstrup møbelfabrik during the 1950s. They are made of high-quality teak wood in a dark shade of brown. The profiled, comfortable seat with the backrest is upholstered with a thick, beige woolen fabric. The chairs were made with the greatest attention to detail. The set is a perfect reflection of the danish mid-century modern era and will correspond with many arrangements. Erik buch is a designer born in copenhagen. His furniture is characterized by an organic and functional aesthetic. The first success was the model 49 chair from 1949. It features a curved, floating seat and classic scandinavian design. Probably his most famous piece is the model 61 bar stool from 1961, which has a typically scandinavian base with organically carved lines. Many of buch's projects are named after the year in which they were created. Other buch designs include the captain's chair (1955) for ørum møbler, the model 310 dining chair for chr. Christiansen, and a t-shaped bar stool for dyrlund. This set is in original vintage condition. They have minor traces of use related to age. The seat is at a height of 45 cm.
