Description
Very beautiful glazed terracotta pottery known as "conscience" in the 19th century. Consciences were used to store and transport olive oil. History offers us two historical versions: either this pottery filled with olive oil was given to workers at the end of the olive harvest, or this object was given to beggars who passed through the villages. In both cases, this gift allowed one to have a “good conscience”!.this is stamped by the manufacturer in st jean de fos and dates from the 1960s, 1970s. The manufacturer is no longer in business. Height 41 cm, width 28 cm. Do not hesitate to contact me for additional information.
