Rare tone ladder wall coat rack ‘ gw coat rack’ designed by coen de vries for his company devo (the hague) in 1954. This early version by coen de vries from 1964 was designed to the size of an interior door for a model home of stichting goed wonen in weesp (hence the abbreviation gw). This is early version of the tone ladder can be recognized by the round tubular frame and nuts as clothes hooks. It is the forerunner of tjerk reyenga’s version for pilastro in different sizes with a square tubular frame. Tomado and artimeta later put this type (with square tube later in production. This coat rack (the original version with round tube) is mounted on the wall with four screws and is extra rare because of the original hat rack which was an extra option at the time. The name scale or stave speaks for itself, with 12 metal coat hooks (staves) in white, black, grey and red. This mid-century wall coat rack is still in very good original condition. Material: metal. Colour: black, grey, red and white. Dimensions: h X w X d = 200 X 73, 5 X 25 cm. Source: good wonen magazine (see photo).
