Pumpkin sofa by Pierre Paulin for Ligne Roset, France, 1970s.

€4,400

The Pumpkin sofa by Pierre Paulin was created in 1971. It was designed for the private apartments of Claude and Georges Pompidou at the Élysée Palace. Its design follows the guiding principle adopted by the French designer with its soft and organic curves. For this model, he was inspired by the pumpkin, using its shape to create a warm and protective seat. Its structure is composed of an assembly of foam on one side: the base and the belt are in polyether foam, while the seat and the backrest are in molded polyurethane foam reinforced by a plate of the same foam. A fabric or leather covering is then placed on the surface. Post-2000 edition. Very good condition, reupholstered, signs of use scratches at the bottom on the lower part invisible during use.
