The potters of accolay exploit the presence of the busy national route 6 to make them places to exhibit and sell their productions. The best way to reach a large passing audience was to set up in the immediate vicinity of the service stations, where, with the agreement of the oil companies, permanent presentation booths were set up. Now abandoned and vandalized, the former vermenton pole is the suspended witness of this singular association between the sale of automotive fuel and the marketing of an artisanal production that met with great popular success, before its gradual disappearance in the 1980s. In 1945, a group of potters moved to accolay, in a disused factory. Its members, from the "zazou" background of paris, form a true community united by work and religion. Initially mainly composed of jewelry and accessories, production really started thanks to the button orders placed by christian dior. The use of colour, inventiveness, a careful finish qualify this first period which ended in 1947.
