Walnut middle desk – 1920

This all-sided desk opens in a belt with four drawers, two identical on the left, one wider, but lower in the center and one higher, compartmentalized, simulating two fronts. Apart from the central drawer with brass button, all are equipped with original locks with keys and entrances also inlaid in brass. The top, with a miter-cut frame with a discreet corbin beak, is covered in later pine green leather decorated with a pattern and gold vignettes. The uprights are carved with palmettes and the base with fixed grooves is turned and ringed. These feet are profiled on square feet, joined by transverse crosspieces and a central one. The whole rests on four ball feet. The back is sober and refined while the sides are each dark with a panel highlighted with molded strips. This desk benefits from quality manufacturing made to last.
