In 1943, he became artistic director of the Gien earthenware factory (2,000 workers) where he assumed the role of decorator. The Gien factory: The Gien Faience Factory was founded in 1821 in Gien in the Loire Valley by the Englishman Thomas Hall. The Gien Faience Factory diversified from a technical and artistic point of view. Its work was recognized in France and abroad and was rewarded at universal exhibitions. The first half of the 20th century saw major social, economic, and political upheavals. The factory sought to maintain its acquired position and avoid sinking into the turmoil of the time. The Gien Faience Factory continued its ascent and move upmarket by offering personalized services bearing the coats of arms of the great families of Europe. In 1984, famous names joined forces with Gien: Paco Rabanne, Garouste and Bonetti, Andrée Putman, Patrick Jouin, Isabelle de Borchgrave… to design new products and magnify Faience. Today, more than ever, the Faïencerie de Gien is part of a program of excellence. A member of the prestigious Comité Colbert, which brings together major French luxury brands, it has been awarded the Living Heritage Company label.
