Solid oak farmhouse table with two plank top

A truly stunning farmhouse table, measuring 227 X 93cm, the table is made entirely from oak from my own oak trees that fell from my estate in the 2009 storm. The legs are beech. The top is made from just two boards, both measuring approximately 46cm wide. One of the boards had cracks at both ends, instead of cutting the board in half and throwing the crack away I asked for the board to be fixed with butterfly stitches as I wanted as much character and charm from the 2 boards, the table has a full depth 92cm drawer, a nice feature I saw on another table and wanted to add to this table, as for the finish I tried to encapsulate everything I love about an old farmhouse table, the elegant yet rustic look, the knocks, dents, holes and scraps and scratches that a well used farmhouse table has to withstand to be authentic, the colour had to be perfect, not too dark but not light, I built the patina with Danish oil on the top and. Oil and wax on the oak frame and legs, not shiny, but not totally dull and matte, farmhouse tables always have a little bit of a sheen, but not too much, I think between my husband and I we have a table here that could have been about 100 years old, the imperfections are the perfections and that's why I love these tables so much.
