Mahogany and Marquetry Games Table, Art Nouveau – 1920
Description
Multifunction table in red and blond mahogany, with a top inlaid with a radiating circle surrounded by a light net. In the corners of this table, meticulously crafted light wood floral arrangements adorn this small piece of furniture. This top is sliding allowing the opening of the games table, lined with green felt surrounded by a sticker. By folding the top of the table and pulling out the drawer of this piece of furniture, we discover a new functional space composed in particular of a backgammon game board, with on the back, green felt with golden sticker accompanied by inkwells and holders. Pencil on the sides of the drawer forming a writing space. Inside, it should be noted the presence of storage lockers allowing you to store the various game pieces. A sliding panel forming a chessboard and checkerboard can be used to hide under this piece of furniture. This table has a drawer front worked with a veneer arranged in a herringbone pattern, like the rest of the belt. It rests on four covered legs inlaid (horizontally) with light mahogany in the center.
