Berber white & black wool carpet 160x255cm
Description
Handmade in morocco. 100% wool. Carpet berbere beniouarain. This rug is handmade by moroccan berber women from the beniourain and mermoucha region of the province of boulmane in northeastern morocco. This is why the name of this style of carpet comes from the name of the village in which it is made. And because this style of carpet has become very popular and saleable in all the traditional markets of morocco, the ladies of many other regions like m'rirt, khenifra and azilal on the mountains of the middle atlas have started to make this style too but in their own way of knotting their region. Carpet manufacturing is more related to our culture than to commerce. That's why our ladies, of whom we are very proud, could spend several months tying a carpet without getting bored. The wool is pure sheep on its natural white color, the black lines are in natural hues. Before starting to manufacture, women must shave live sheep, wash and brush the wool properly, and then spin it by hand. The knotting of carpets and weaving in morocco is more than a culture or handicraft, it is a way of life and a link between generations.
