Sommerso Murano Glass Ashtray or Bowl, Italy, 1960s

Beautiful mid-century murano sommerso glass ashtray / small bowl - italy, 1960s. Made of thick blue and clear murano glass. Can be used as a small bowl, vide poche / catch-all or as an ashtray. Barely readable label/sticker at the bottom (can be removed very easily if needed). Height: 6 cm; diameter (max): 14.5 cm; width: 12 cm; depth: 12 cm. Very good vintage condition. ''sommerso'' is a technique developed in murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s/60s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly caused by a clear layer.
