Description
This preparatory sketch, signed by maurice de bus at the bottom left, represents a horse's head. Probably produced in the 1960s, this work shows a remarkable mastery of charcoal drawing. The energetic lines and marked hatching give an impression of depth and movement, characteristic of the style of "de bus". Maurice de bus (1907 - 1963), was a renowned french sculptor. He won the prestigious prix de rome in 1937 and lived at the villa medici. De bus also designed coins for the paris mint, illustrating his versatility and artistic talent.
