Sideboard by Alain Richard Model 324 - TV cabinet - Rosewood - Ca 1950

Superb modernist sideboard by French designer Alain Richard published by Meuble TV in the 1950s. Alain Richard is one of the greatest French designers who dazzled French furniture from the 1950s-1970s with his creativity. Spearhead of French modernism in the same way as Pierre Paulin or Pierre Guariche, he led large-scale projects such as the development of Orly airport. This sideboard model listed 324 is made of rosewood which is the rarest and most sought-after wood. It stands out for its elegance and finesse. The box is divided into three compartments, one row of four drawers and two storage spaces of different sizes. Note that the choice of asymmetrical design is rare at this time. The wood design follows perfectly on the drawers. The opening of the doors of the left compartment blends perfectly into the grain of the wood. The interior of the boxes is lined with glass shelves, one large on the left and two small ones in the bar area on the right. The rosewood on the top and sides is beautiful. The box rests on a small diameter black lacquered round tube base. This model is particularly interesting compared to certain other formats. A restoration visible on the wood on the left side. A small chip to the glass. The cuffs have been modified for comfort to a series of cuffs reminiscent of Richard's 800 series.
