Originally designed in 1928, the lamp became known as the "kongelys lamp" after it was gifted to the danish king christian X in 1937 for his 25th anniversary as king. Fog & mørup, founded in 1904 by ansgar fog and erik mørup, became renowned for their pioneering lighting designs throughout the 20th century.
