Pair of porcelain fu dogs - blue

Pair of Chinese foo dogs in turquoise blue ceramic lion temple. From the middle of the 20th century. They can make a very beautiful bookend or simply take pride of place in your interior. Symbol of protection in feng shui - Chinese lions are always represented in pairs, thus symbolizing yin (the female) and yang (the male). The male has under his front leg a ball called xiù qiú, resembling the figure called the flower of life. The female has a lion cub under her paw, symbolizing the cycle of life. There appears to be a missing part on the male's nose but this appears to be original, as there is no missing part on the turquoise glaze.
