Armchair by Kembo-Rhenen, Nettherlands, 1960s

This vintage armchair made by kembo-rhenen unveils its elegance the more you look at it. The comfortable artificial leather seat and backrest are held up by supple, curved black painted metal elements which link the the straight, vertical chrome-plated legs. The solid wood arms also appear to be straight and simple, but further inspection reveals them going off at an angle to meet the backrest, which is also similarly angled. It's this dialogue between components, coupled with professional craftsmanship, that makes this armchair a good piece of vintage dutch design.
