This oil on panel by coran d'ys represents a church in brittany with a river in the foreground. Victorien harel known as coran d'ys (1877-1954) painted breton landscapes, most often in the form of gouaches and watercolors with fine lines and a japanese style. Coran d'ys is interested in the underwater world and is part of the realistic movement that began in painting in 1930. In 1935, the french navy ordered wall panels from him for the destroyers le fantasque and le chacal. The work is of quality, especially in the reflections.
