Here is a wooden pedestal carved with three cherub faces and fruit and foliage throws. Label on the back with the inscription "low pedestal...carved with cherub's head, fest... Of fruit. Attributed to... Wren, english 17th century, 9 in. High." comes from an old british property in provence. Christopher wren (1632-1723) was a scholar and then architect. He was commissioner for the reconstruction of london (commissioner for rebuiding the city of london) after the great fire of 1666. He built st paul's cathedral in london and 51 churches and chapels with the participation of sculptors and artists of the time: g. Gibbons, a. Quellin, etc...
