Lithograph portrait of a Shepherd

The author of this lithograph is jean-frédéric wentzel who founded in the 1840s a popular imaging printing house in wissembourg, his hometown. Like the imagery of epinal, this imagery will be famous at the end of the nineteenth century. This representation of a former shepherd with his houlette testifies to the alsatian culture and the collective imagination at that time. The wooden frame is beautifully made.
