Suzanne Eisendieck (1908-1998) Oil on canvas. "Sunday in the fields" Signed lower right. Circa 1955-1960. Very good condition. Beautiful colors. Dimensions: 33x41cm. *Suzanne Eisendieck was born on November 14, 1906, in Danzig (now Gdansk, Poland) to German parents, Karl Eisendieck and Anna née Klegus. At the age of 12, Suzanne Eisendieck became one of the youngest students of the painter Fritz August Pfuhle. At the age of 21, she studied for three years at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin in the class of Maximilian Klewer. While there, she took part in a group exhibition of 1,400 works, of which only 9 were sold ... including 3 of her paintings. This success in Berlin later allowed her to go to Paris. She settled in a "maid's room" in the Latin Quarter near Place Saint-Michel and began to paint. She was struggling financially until a friend, the painter Dietz Edzard, organized a visit to her small studio for the gallery owner Mrs. Zak. She immediately bought six of her paintings and exhibited them in her gallery, Place Saint Germain des Prés. Everyone admired these paintings. This encouraged Mrs. Zak to organize the first exhibition of Suzanne Eisendieck's paintings. This would later be followed by others in the Leicester Galleries in London. Exhibitions: 1929: Jury Art Libre Voir, Berlin. 1932: Galerie Zak, Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris. 1934: Leicester Galleries, London. 1936 - leicester galleries, london. 1938 - leicester galleries, london. 1937: marie harriman gallery, new york, 1939 - marie harriman gallery, new york, 1940 - marie harriman gallery, new york. 1942: Benezit gallery, Paris. 1946: perls galleries, new york, 1948 - perls galleries, new york, 1949 - perls galleries, new york. 1954: public exhibition of modernist paintings, Paris. 1955: Galerie Petridès, Paris. 1962: abels gallery, cologne.
