Description
Two ancient engravings of mushrooms from a mycology book, hand-enhanced with watercolor. The rendering is very realistic. These engravings after georges eugène bernard date from the late nineteenth century, signed "g. Bernard del." in the board. Each engraving measures 23 cm by 32 cm frame included. In excellent condition, offered with an informal protective frame in natural wood with a protective plexi and a celadon green passe. See detailed photos. Georges bernard (1835-1928) was a specialist in mycology. He worked as a military pharmacist at the aufrédy military hospital in la rochelle. He discovered and named several mushrooms.
