The beni ouarain rug is probably the best known of berber rugs. It is characterized by its thick wool in ecru tones and its geometric diamond-shaped patterns, often black or brown. Indeed, the beni ouarain tribe comes from the middle atlas, it is therefore subject to a harsh climate. The rugs were therefore used as mattresses and blankets, people wrapped themselves in them to sleep and protect themselves from the cold. The woolen threads are knotted one after the other, which requires a very long production time, which can range from several days to several months depending on its size.
