Description
Quality and simplicity at its best—an oak bookcase created by the prominent Danish furniture designer Børge Mogensen. This piece is part of the China Series, designed by Mogensen in 1960, and inspired by traditional Chinese furniture. Crafted from high-quality oak, the bookcase showcases Mogensen’s preference for natural, durable woods. The natural finish highlights the beautiful grain patterns, while subtle details, like dowel joints, smooth finishes, and a finely sculpted base, demonstrate the craftsmanship involved. The design features a straightforward, sturdy structure with no superfluous details, staying true to Mogensen’s ethos of functional, practical design, and perfectly merging Asian influences with Scandinavian design principles. The China Series bookcases were designed with versatility in mind, allowing for various configurations. The bookcase comes with adjustable shelves, making it adaptable to different storage needs and offering ample space without overwhelming the room. Despite the passage of time, the bookcase remains in excellent condition. The wood has been refreshed with professional compounds to enhance its durability and bring out the beauty of the grain. There is a very nice patina on the oak. We have three of these modules available. Contact us if you are interested in purchasing additional pieces.
