Description
Swedish cityscape by swedish painter and illustrator eskil skans (1905-1989). Handwritten in the lower right part of the painting. This painting was painted in 1960s. Oil painting on panel. Framed. Gustaf eskil skans (born december 10, 1905 in stockholm, died november 29, 1989 in stockholm) - swedish painter and illustrator. Skans studied at the technical school in malmö in 1923–1927 and privately with anders olson in malmö in 1940–1941 and during study trips to paris, southern france and italy. He made his exhibition debut in early 1940 and exhibited separately several times in the sds hall in malmö, and also exhibited separately in trelleborg, lund and limhamn. He exhibited with ulla borgström at malmö town hall in 1944 and with karl enock ohlsson in ystad. He has participated in group exhibitions organized by skånes konstförening in malmö and lund, as well as in hörby konstförening exhibitions and many provincial group exhibitions in various cities of skåne. He was one of the participants in the exhibition five watercolorists, which was shown at the kristianstad museum in 1954. His art consists mainly of landscapes and still lifes made in oil or tempera, but he became known primarily as a talented watercolorist. His early art includes figural studies, scenes resembling a genre square and amusement park with a naive twist, harbor and coastal themes with boats. In addition to his own creative work, he was active as a press cartoonist. Skans is represented in the kristianstad museum.
