Japanese bowl in contemporary raku ceramic, 3 colors, turquoise, black, beige, monogram stamp and artist signature "jog" under the bowl. Raku, short for the japanese term raku-yaki 楽焼 "comfortable cooking" or "happy cooking" is the result of an enamelling technique developed in sixteenth-century japan. It is essentially related to the manufacture of bowls for the tea ceremony. A stronger chamotté sandstone is used because the parts must withstand strong temperature differences.
