Description
Period: ca. 1940 - 1970. This oriental-inspired set consists of four pieces: an ashtray, a lighter, a large tobacco pot, and a small lidded jar. The four pieces are made of white porcelain with chinese-inspired floral motifs with peonies and stylized geometric patterns on the edges. Both pots have tin lids with fretels and the lid of the larger pot has a moisture absorption pad. All parts are finished with good quality pewter parts, be it foot rings, cigarette holders and border bands; they are all decorated with a fine frieze of pearls. The lighter has a gas receptacle that can be removed for filling; it emits sparks so I have to assume it works when filled. All parts have manufacturer marks. This is parisian french porcelain made by ulysse porcelaine for chanill. Information about this manufacturer is scarce, but regarding the date they are located around the middle of the 20th century. Status: very good. No damage. Not much tarnishing of the metal. Hardly seems used. Dimensions: tobacco pot: 18 cm high and 16 cm wide. Lighter: 12 cm high, 6.3 cm diameter. Ashtray: 5 cm high and 14 cm in diameter. Small pot: 5.5 cm high, 9 cm in diameter. Total weight: 1.1 kg.
