Description
Pretty and very old photograph representing a cart, its 4 horses and its coachman. Perhaps a coupling that made it possible to move the upper part of the stagecoaches (boxes) that were then transferred to a train (this system appeared in 1843 on the paris-orléans line). This photograph was in a set of about fifteen old photos representing various scenes with the common point of the presence of one or more horses, often in connection with "the state railways" or the "western railways". If you have any information, i'm interested. It was taken in motion and yet is very clear, which must have been very complicated at the time! In my shop, I have another photo that represents the same hitch but at a standstill. It must date from the late 1800s or early 1900s. It is glued on a rigid cardboard. This photo is in a correct condition, no big spot, but obviously does not hide its hundred years outdated, and therefore has small marks and spots and probably a lightening compared to the origin. The cardboard frame measures 26 cm by 20.8 cm and the photo 17 cm by 11.8 cm. It will be sent well protected against folds but also against moisture. Other photos are or will soon be present in my shop, do not hesitate to contact me if you want to order several so that I adjust the shipping costs.
