Small Antique Siena Marble Tazza/Cup

Period: late 19th century a lovely tazza (cup) in pale yellow siena marble with grey veining. The rim of the bowl is gadrooned. It stands on a square base and was carved circularly. The cup was originally decorated with four turtle doves on the rim (small holes to show this). This type of marble was popular in the late 19th century. The tazza is either french or italian in origin and comes in larger and smaller versions (this one is smaller). Condition: there is a small chip on one corner of the base (see photo) and a few nicks on the gadrooned rim. The birds that would have originally adorned the rim are missing (4 small holes on the rim). Dimensions: 10.5cm high, 15cm diameter.
