Maralunga sofa by Vico Magistretti for Cassina

About the sofa: In good condition, this iconic sofa is the perfect addition to any space. With its earthy beige velvet, it's the perfect cozy seat. In fact, its backrest can open and become an incredibly comfortable headrest. Its beautiful lines and timeless look make it a must-have piece for any collector or lover of mid-century modern. About its designer: among the best post-war Italian designers is Vico Magistretti (1920-2006). Heir to his grandfather and his architect father, he began his career by engaging in reconstruction after the Second World War. His interest in furniture would be a by-product of his architectural work beginning in the 1960s. It was during the 1970s that Magistretti would produce some of his most iconic and recognizable designs. His love for geometric shapes and a constant search for practicality led him to create prized pieces such as the "maralunga" for cassina and the "atollo" lamp for o-luce which both won a compass d'oro in 1977. His work is characterized by its geometric architecture, monochrome looks and unique materials.
