Description
Ancient brass euphonium. Tuba family. For decoration. Instrument stamped "f. Van cauwelaert – patented – Brussels". 3 keys. Mouth "persy brussels". Diameter of the pavilion: 39 cm. Intact attachment rings. circa 1920. ------ Ferdinand-Joseph Van Cauwelaert (1808-1884) established his first brass workshop in Brussels in 1846. The manufacture quickly became very famous, and became the official supplier of many institutions. His instruments were the most popular choice among Belgian instrumentalists for more than seventy-five years, from the second half of the nineteenth century until the 1930s.
