Coffee table with a system, convertible in a few ultra-simple operations into a dining table for 6! It is made of blond oak veneer with a cast iron system and dates from the 70s. It has a scandinavian style but it is probably a french work. In coffee table position, it rests on 4 flared legs which support a beautiful veneer marquetry top in excellent condition. There are 4 parts, each with the wood grains in an opposite direction, which forms a beautiful geometric design. We notice a very small veneer recovery on one corner. We then lift one edge, with a single finger, then push the cast iron system inwards, which locks the top. By starting again on the other side, we obtain the same table but this time at dining table height! Then simply rotate the top then open it in two and place it on the cast iron structure... And there you have it! Delightfully simple and very playful. It works perfectly. There are some chips in the veneer on the edges or on the open top, but these are always anecdotal, some wear here and there, but it is in very good general condition, ready to be used as a table... Coffee table or not, or both! These pieces of furniture are quite difficult to find, very well suited to our modern (often smaller) interiors, and their identity as a system piece of furniture always adds a human value to them, both for the work that went into it and for the initial thinking. Smart furniture, in other words. Coffee table: 60 X 97.5 X 50 (h) cm. High table: 120.5 X 97.5 X 76.5 cm.
