Painting attr. Ed. Pannetier "Landscape of Algeria" Orientalist

Painting by edouard ec pannetier (1884-1965) - unsigned but family provenance: see attached bio. Very beautiful pastel, extremely luminous for this work representing a landscape entitled in algeria on the back (country where the artist stayed and worked). Very good condition. Marquetry frame of excellent quality. Orphaned by his father, he began his artistic studies at the ecole des beaux-arts in his hometown then at the ecole des arts décoratifs in paris. Trained as a drawing teacher, he worked for a few years in algeria at the lamoricière high school in oran between 1910 and 1920. Back in france, he worked as a drawing teacher at the aix-en-provence high school around 1930. He painted many landscapes and genre scenes from algeria and provence. For the rest, he illustrated several literary works, highlighting the novel “atala” by chateaubriand in its 1946 edition. He died in rueil-malmaison, near paris, on october 14, 1965, at the age of 80.
