Gilbert Portanier ceramic bowl Vallauris vintage 1960
Description
Gilbert portanier large ceramic bowl vallauris vintage 1960. A magnificent bowl designed in vallauris by gilbert portanier born in 1924. The decoration represents two dancing figures. Dimension: Diameter: 21cm / 8.3'' Height: 14cm / 5.9'' Perfect condition. Gilbert portanier has been based in vallauris since 1948. He is particularly interested in décor and color. Mrs. Antoinette hallé described him for her exhibition at the musée de sèvres in 1997 as "magician of colors". He is also known for the variety of his forms that range from the most classical and structured to the most baroque but all are always surprising and seem designed to receive the paintings that animate them. The color is taken in a mysterious drawing that invites viewers to daydream and appropriate what it suggests. He likes to tell you "art is made by two, I propose and you have, I started, to you to perfect the meaning and emotion that will accompany the life of the work. Things are not as inert as we think." his fantasy seems inexhaustible.
