Jean-gabriel domergue "la parisienne" (1889-1962) - oil on hardboard jean-gabriel domergue is a french painter often described as being "the inventor of the pin-up" because of his portraits of parisian women from the 1920s to big eyes and a slender neck. Born march 4, 1889 in bordeaux. Domergue was appointed curator of the jacquemart-andré museum in paris, then made a knight of the legion of honor and a member of the academy of fine arts. He died on november 16, 1962 in paris.
