Set of two "Oti" wire lounge chairs by Niels Gammelgaard for IKEA, 1980s

The “Oti” wire lounge chairs were designed by Danish designer Niels Gammelgaard for Ikea in the late 1980s. These chairs are noted for their minimalist industrial design, featuring a structure made of black lacquered steel wire. The chairs are designed with a diamond-shaped seat and backrest, set on a triangular base, which provides a unique aesthetic and sturdy support. These chairs are part of a collection of furniture pieces that highlight Ikea’s collaboration with well-known designers, aiming to bring high-quality design to a broader audience. This model is considered a classic example of Ikea’s vintage design, reflecting Gammelgaard’s background in industrial design, which he studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts under Erik Herløw​ Very good condition.
