This late 18th century earthenware virgin is in good overall condition. We note firing defects, traces of wear and small dents on the enamel. The virgin in childbirth is a statuette frequently found in homes from the 18th to the 19th century. On the head of the virgin, there is a hollowed-out crown at the bottom of which there is a hole two centimeters in diameter. Through this hole, holy water could be poured into the bottom of the statuette, but above all, a candle could be placed that was lit when the "labor" of the parturient began. Our photos allow you to appreciate the quality of the object. For the condition, please detail the photos. Do not hesitate to zoom in. The photos are an integral part of the description.
